Estos peces nadan en la superficie, alimentándose de algas, pedazos de pasto flotantes, zooplancton, larvas y otros peces. Su coloración les camuflajéa en las aguas superficiales. Son comunes en las bahías, cerca de la orilla, y se les usa como carnada. |
| Unlike Houndfish, in the Ballyhoo only the lower jaw is elongated. These fish swim just below the surface, feeding on algae, floating grasses, zooplankton, larvae and other fish. Their coloring helps them blend into the surface waters. They are common in bays and near the shore, and are frequently used as bait. |
