Hay muchas especies distintas de Ninfas. Algunas, son nativas de México, como la Nymphaea mexicana y la Nymphaea ampla. Otras tienen su origen en Asia, Africa (Nymphaea colorata) y Europa (Nymphaea alba) pero han sido distribuidas por todo el mundo debido a su belleza. En el arte de las culturas antiguas de México se encuentran frecuentemente representaciones de Ninfas. Por crecer en la superficie del agua, se cree que representaban la frontera entre el inframundo y nuestro mundo, y su uso ceremonial era de gran importancia. |
There are many different species of Water Lillies. Some are native to Mexico, such as Nymphaea mexicana and Nymphaea ampla. Others have their origins in Asia, Africa (Nymphaea colorata), or Europe (Nymphaea alba) and have been spread worldwide because of their beauty. Water lilies are often depicted in the art of ancient cultures of Mexico. Because the grow on the water´s surface, it is believed to represent the boundary between the underworld and our world, and had important ceremonial purposes. |
