Pavo de Monte - Ocellated Turkey

Existen tan solo dos especies de guajolote en el mundo,
ambas nativasaNorteamérica.
ElOceladoseencuentraúnicamenteenla Península de
Yucatán y en partes de los estados vecinos de Tabasco y
Chiapas. Es huraño y puede ser dificil encontrarlo, pero es
inconfundible por su cara azul y plumas coloridas. Pasa la
mayor parte del día buscando alimento en el suelo, pero
pernocta en la copa de árboles.

Es considerado una especie Casi Amenazada
debido a su caza y la pérdida de su hábitat.

There are only two species of turkey in the world,
both native to North America. The Ocellated is found
only in the Yucatan Peninsula and in parts of the
neighboring states of Tabasco and Chiapas. Though
shy and hard to spot, its blue face and colorful
feathers make it unmistakable.It spends most of the
day feeding on the ground,but spends nights high
up in the trees.

It is a Near Threatened species due to the twin
pressures of hunting and loss of habitat.
